Why “Love and Light” Can Keep You in a Low Frequency and What to Aim for Instead
It sounds harmless. It sounds soft. It sounds spiritually correct: “I’m sending you love and light.”
But often, there’s a subtle pressure behind it – energetically and emotionally:
Please be bright. Please be kind. Please don’t be inconvenient.
The concept of “love and light” can become a spiritual bypass tool when it’s not authentic and not embodied. It’s an attempt to suppress the darkness, not to feel through it. It’s an attempt to ignore shadows, not to integrate them.
In truth, this phrase acts like a frequency cage. Because those who feel anger, grief, clarity, boundaries, or rawness are suddenly “not light enough.”
“Love and light” turns into spiritual censorship, not an invitation to truth.
It can trap people in guilt. In shame. In the feeling that something is wrong with them when they’re not “high-vibe” and believe they must meet unreachable standards.
But clarity is high-frequency. Truth is high-frequency. Even when it’s uncomfortable.
Real frequency work begins with authenticity. Not with niceness. Not with spiritual cosmetics. But with the courage to meet yourself.
The energy of authenticity also opens the heart chakra, by recognizing what is, and consciously choosing to respond from the heart.
However, it’s important not to lose balance and to not confuse heart-based impulses with neurological habits. Repeated, unconscious reactions are not authenticity, they are neural pathways formed over years.
This can show up as negative thinking, triggered by familiar patterns, just as much as in the suppression of certain themes.
Which means: The dosage, the timing, and the form are crucial.
Maureen St. Germain describes in her book Waking Up in 5D that we are no longer in an era where more light automatically produces more shadow. She speaks of shadow in homeopathic doses – a small amount that’s enough to maintain balance.
And that we shouldn’t focus on the darker, because that gives it energy.
So: “Love and light” can also mean returning to the heart, once the shadows are not running the show anymore. And that means preserving your truth – especially towards yourself – without falling into destructive patterns.
Has “love and light” ever kept you small? I’d love to hear.
Until next time,
M
